چکیده

The Scirpophaga incertulas (Walker), trivial name Yellow Stem Borer (YSB) is a serious pest contributing to significant yield loss rice. YSB detects host/mate cues through olfactory receptors (sensilla) on antennae, which critical for its survival, adaptability, and perpetuation. Though destructive pest, mechanism of olfaction poorly understood. Using scanning electron microscope, it attempted detect distinct sensilla, decode their characteristics, compare the antennal sensilla both males females. Sensilla trichodea (S.T), chaetica (S.Ch), styloconica (S.St), squamiformia (S.Sq), coeloconica (S.Co), cavity, Bőhm bristles (BB) are seven kinds subtypes recognized. Sexual dimorphism was observed in arrangement scales over antenna Interestingly, among subtypes, S.T-I only males. Furthermore, without fence (type II) noticed our studies also reported earlier other monophagous lepidopteran pests. statistical analysis number size clearly indicates involvement sexual differentiation. This study may help better understanding processes communication, identification plant volatiles, oviposit site, mate YSB.

Morphology and Ultrastructure of Antennal Sensilla in Male and Female Agrilus mali (Coleoptera: Buprestidae)

The apple buprestid beetle, Agrilus mali Matsumura, is an invasive pest causing significant damages to rare wild apple forests of Xinjiang. The morphology, abundance and distribution of antennal sensilla in both sexes of this pest were examined. We found that the antennae of A. mali females were longer than those of males. Five types of antennal sensilla were characterized, including trichodea ...

Scanning electron microscopy studies of antennal sensilla of Pteromalus cerealellae (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae).

Pteromalus cerealellae (Ashmead) (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) is an ectoparasitoid of several insect pests of stored products. In order to provide requisite background information to support our ongoing research on its host location mechanisms, we examined the external morphology of the antennal sensilla of this parasitoid using scanning electron microscopy. Antennae of male and female P. cereal...
